Terms and Conditions

Definitions and Interpretations

1.In this Terms and Conditions, unless the context requires otherwise:

a) Centre, we, us, or our means the business/entity Maplestars Academy

b) Staff means any teacher (whether permanent or temporary), employee or representative of the Centre whether located in Singapore or outside of Singapore.

c) Services means the physical/online regular classes, Tutors on Call sessions, Homework Clinic, Master classes, Preparatory classes and/or other workshops offered and conducted by the Centre and/or its staff.

d) Student means the individual who is the recipient of the services provided by the Centre.

e) Parents means the parents of the student and/or any person/guardian who has accepted parental or legal responsibility for the student.

2. Upon enrolment into the Services offered by the Centre, the Student and Parents hereby agree to and accept the terms and conditions stated herein.

Fees and Payment

1.Fees are agreed upon at the time of registration.

2. Fees paid are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.

3. A one-time registration fee of $20 is payable for each new student who joins our regular classes.

4. A material fee of $10 will be collected at the start of the term.

5. Fees will be collected termly and must be paid by the invoice due date to confirm the Student’s enrolment. The Student’s class slot may be released to the next student on the waiting list if payment is not received by the due date. 

6. If the Student joins in at any time after the start of a term, the fees will be pro-rated accordingly based on the remaining number of lessons. Material fees will also be payable and will not be pro-rated.

7. We accept payment by Paynow to UEN and Internet/ATM bank transfer. Payment details are to be sent to 8463 0780. A receipt will be issued/sent upon verification of payment. 

8. We do not accept cash or credit card payments.

9. All fees are subject to review and revision.

Make-up Classes

1.For missed lessons (including Public Holidays), the following options for make-up will be offered:

a) The student may attend another physical or online group class within the same week, subject to class availability.

b) If no suitable group class is available within that week, a 30-minute 1-to-1 make-up session online will be arranged instead.

Please note that missed classes are not refundable or transferable, and make-up arrangements are to be completed within the week of the missed lesson to ensure continuity of learning.

2. A maximum of two (2) make-up classes (excluding those for Public Holidays) are allowed per term.

3. Make-up classes must be arranged at least one day in advance.

4. The Centre reserves the right to reschedule a class at any point of time during the term due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Provision of Services and Conduct of Classes

1.The Centre reserves the right to change the location of the Services from time to time at its sole discretion. In the event that the original intended location is not available at the commencement of or during the course of the Services, the Centre will use its best efforts to make alternative arrangements to conduct the Services at a different location.

2. The Centre will give written notice to the Student and/or Parents prior to effecting or carrying out any change in location.

Ownership and Intellectual Property Rights

1.All course materials, whether on the website or offline classes, are owned by the Centre.

2. All intellectual property rights in all materials available from the Centre, including the design, graphics and text of all printed materials and any audio/video materials shall remain the sole property of the Centre. 

3. When the Student is given access to the learning materials used for the Services, the  Student is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the content. No content may be copied, reproduced, uploaded, posted, displayed or linked to in any way, in whole or in part, without the Centre’s prior permission. Any such use is strictly prohibited and will constitute an infringement of the Centre’s intellectual property rights.

Conditions of Enrolment and Continued Enrolment

1.The Centre reserves the right to suspend and/or terminate the Student with immediate effect from any or all Services in the event that:

a) the Student and/or Parents breaches any of the Terms and Conditions;

b) the Centre deems, in its sole discretion, that the Student and/or Parents demonstrate(s) behaviour that is detrimental and/or in any way adverse to the welfare of any Staff or other students and parents of the Centre.

In the event that the Student is terminated from the Centre pursuant to Clauses 1a and 1b above, the Centre will not be under any obligation to return any fees paid to the Centre, even if the Student has not started or has not utilised any part of the Services or has not completed any of the Services that the Student has enrolled in.

2. The Centre may exercise its right to take actions as provided in Clause 1 in the event that the Student and or Parents:

a) cause and/or attempt and/or threaten to cause any form of physical injury to other students, parents and/or Staff for any reason;

b) use any form of threatening, abusive or insulting words and/or behave in any such manner towards other students, parents and/or Staff;

c) says or do anything that may reasonably be deemed as likely or may or have caused harassment, alarm and/or distress to other students, parents and/or Staff.

d) fail to comply with any policy, guideline, code of conduct, regulation, notice, direction or instruction given by the Centre or any Staff in relation to the conduct of Services or the use of the Centre’s premises or items or any matter relating to the provision of the Services;

e) use, disclose, or disseminate any of the Centre’s copyright materials without prior written consent or approval.

3. For the avoidance of any doubt, should any investigations and/or inquiry be deemed by the Centre (in its sole discretion) to be necessary or appropriate in respect of any matters set out in Clauses 1 to 2 above, the Student may be suspended or terminated from any of the Services pending such investigations.

Continuing Binding Effect of Any Amendments / Revisions / Updates / Modifications / Substitutions of These Terms and Conditions

1.The Centre may at any time amend, revise, update, modify, and/or substitute these Terms and Conditions, and the Student and Parents shall continue to be subject to such Terms and Conditions as so amended, revised, updated, modified and/or substituted from time to time.

Other Terms and Conditions

1.The Centre will assume responsibility of the Student while the class is in session. We assume no responsibility for the supervision of the student at times outside of the class sessions, or if the student chooses to leave the Centre’s premises during the lesson for any reason. 

2. The Centre will give prior notice to the Student and/or Parent in the event of any change of class teachers.

3. All costs incurred as a result of any damage, injury, loss, expense or liability that may be caused to public and/or private property by the Student will be borne by the Parents.

4. The Centre owns the copyrights to the Student’ work completed throughout the duration of the programme. The Centre has the right to reproduce or publish the Student’s works for advertising or other purposes.

5. The Student’s photograph and/or image in video may be selected to be used as part of the ongoing documentation process in the Centre. Some of these contents may be chosen to be published on our website, Social Media platforms and/or our advertisement.
